Daniël Kriel is CEO of Sanlam Private Investments (SPI), one of the leading private client investment managers and stock brokers in South Africa. SPI, which manages and administer some R101 billion, is widely regarded as being at the forefront of renewal in the private client industry, and is also one of the fastest growing companies in the Sanlam stable. Daniël joined the Sanlam Group in 1998, and was responsible for marketing, institutional sales and retail distribution at SIM before being appointed as CEO of Sanlam Private Investments. He is an exco member of Sanlam Investments, and serves on a number of boards of both local and international group companies. Prior to Sanlam, Daniël worked in employee benefits for six years with ABSA Consultants and Actuaries where he developed South Africa’s first retirement and risk cover plan for blue collar workers. While at ABSA, he also headed the first empowerment initiative in the employee benefits industry. Daniël holds a BA (Law) from Stellenbosch University and an LLB from RAU. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, food, wine, reading and a variety of outdoor activities.

Daniel worked in management positions for leading trust companies in Canada prior to taking up roles in offshore trust companies in Nassau, Jersey and Geneva, with Coutts International Private Bank. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, he subsequently earned his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Miami. He is accredited as a member of the Financial Planning Institute of Canada and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Daniel is a founder of the Swiss Association of Trust Companies, a member of the editorial committee for Wealthbriefing, an on-line wealth management news service and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.

Stella

Stella began her career with NatWest Bank, as a graduate trainee in 1991. She quickly moved into the Coutts private banking and trust subsidiary in Jersey before moving to Geneva in 1996. She has a wide range of experience of trust and company management including fine art, bloodstock, commercial and residential property, private equity, family offices and private trust companies. Stella is a law graduate of King's College, London (LLB Hons), an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) and a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Stella is a much sought after speaker at trust conferences and is a regular tutor for the STEP Foundation and diploma courses. She is also on the editorial committee of Trusts & Trustees publication (Italian Version).

Marteen is the head of the Fiduciary and Tax division of Sanlam Private Investments (Pty) Ltd, based in Johannesburg, South Africa since September 2011.
Marteen has 20 plus years’ experience in the fiduciary and tax industry in South Africa. She was previously the Head of the Fiduciary and Tax and International Advisory Division at RMB Private Bank, FirstRand and before that a manager in the Tax and Legal Division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Johannesburg. Marteen is an admitted advocate with B Iuris and LLB degrees, and also a CA (SA) with postgraduate qualifications in Auditing and Financial Accountancy. She is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa (FISA), and the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT) and is a registered tax practitioner with the SA Revenue Services in South Africa.

Robin

Robin began his career with the international law firm Simmons & Simmons in the City of London prior to joining Coutts International Private Bank and Trust Group where he was general counsel in Guernsey, Hong Kong and Zurich. In 1999 he moved to Geneva to join Summit Trust International. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford where he read Jurisprudence. He is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Since 2004 he has lived in London where he supervises Summit Trust Company Limited, an English trust corporation.
